What is the YouthForce's mission?

YouthForce programs develop self directed learners, able to realize their personal and professional goals.

 

Is YouthForce a business?

No.  We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, founded in 1999, and located in Seattle, Washington.

 

What does YouthForce and TeenJobs.org do?

Overcomes the barriers teenagers have finding meaningful career information and jobs that provide career growth.  YouthForce helps businesses hire qualified and motivated 16-18 year olds by acting as temporary employment agency. TeenJobs.org provides 15-18 year olds with coaching, goal setting, resume trainings, program referral and paid mentored internships

 

What types of jobs does YouthForce offer?

To date, YouthForce has placed 380 young people in more than 70 businesses and non-profits.  Satisfied employers include the ZymoGenetics, Expeditors, Amazon.com, Qwest Field, Vulcan Inc., Stoel Rives, Coughlin Porter Lundeen, Nordstrom, Holland America Line, Ogden, Murphy, & Wallace LLP, The Seattle Times, Providence Medical Centers, and WONGDOODY.  Jobs have included office and administrative assistant, lab assistant, program assistant, logistical support, junior accountant, newspaper intern, drafting assistant and legal aide. 

 

Isn't it difficult for a business to hire someone under 18 years old?

YouthForce is designed to make it easy.  We provide all payroll, liability, work permits, mentor tools and education support necessary.  So, hiring and maintaining a young person on staff is easy- that’s why 92% of our teens are successful!

 

Does the employer take whatever kid YouthForce sends them?

No.  Employer satisfaction in the employee's performance is paramount to YouthForce.  To ensure the best match, the employer interviews and determines who to hire.  YouthForce performs the outreach and screening to find teen candidates with strong matching career interests, the demonstrated skills to succeed in the job, and the ability to get to work on time and home safely.

 

What is the connection between YouthForce and TeenJobs.org?

Teenjobs.org is the youth oriented job listing and information website of YouthForce

 

Why does YouthForce charge an hourly fee for its services if it is a non-profit?

In order to best accomplish YouthForce’s mission, the organization carries out its activities by having the costs of the services it performs covered by the beneficiaries of the efforts.   YouthForce service fees are: $1000 for summer only internships, or $2000 for a full year of internship support.
